What’s the Price?
Why don’t we quote prices over the phone? The short answer is to avoid confusion. A further explanation would reveal that we sell these same parts through different sources and learned a while back that it is better to let the computer do the pricing for us. To keep prices at an absolute minimum we have some fairly complicated processes running behind the scenes that recalculate prices often, sometimes many times a day. Instead of just selling our auto parts at the manufacturer suggested retail price, or even Jobber price, we calculate from our absolute cost and add a bare minimum for handling, shipping, boxes, etc. and then check it against our competition. If you check on us by pricing us against anyone on the internet I believe you will find that the computer is doing a pretty good job. We find our customers appreciative of the effort we make on pricing things low. Sometimes not getting a price on the phone is a little inconvenient, but getting the lowest price possible is ALWAYS a good thing!
P.S. Along the same lines… right now we are offering bare minimum pricing, along with a volume discount of 1% per $100 up to a 10% discount. We could go with the standard internet model and price much higher and then offer coupon codes, but we think the bottom line savings across the board work better.
