The Cleanup Continues

We get calls daily from people wanting us to assure them that the genuine ACDelco parts we are selling are “Made in America”. While there is a very real issue with counterfeit auto parts being made in China and other countries, the reality is that VERY FEW auto parts are actually manufactured within the borders of the United States. The old sites where thousands of US workers assembled auto parts in Michigan and Ohio, etc. are sitting vacant, while the fences that surround them rust and grass grows in the pavement. It seems that now there is a real effort to add these locations back to the American economy. This article from Detroit News reveals a glimpse of hope for the area. While they are probably not going to be opened back up as the vibrant manufacturing plants for brand new auto parts or vehicles for which they were built, getting ANY business started in the communities where they have shouted decline for decades will be a great thing. If the federal government can assist in getting new operations up and doing ANYTHING, it will create jobs and activity, and beyond all else HOPE in an area that really needs it. Let’s pray that this initiative works out for all involved… it is a real need.
